Military Youth on the Move

13 Feb

When asked to write a paper about her hometown, my 7-year-old daughter chose Alaska, a state she has only flown over on her way to and from Japan.  My daughter is 7 and she has lived in 4 states and 2 countries. My daughter does not have a hometown. She will attend numerous schools before graduating, become an expert room decorator, and create many friendships that are only meant to last 1-3 years. One thing military families all have in common is the anticipated PCS (Permanent Change in Station).

Military Youth on The Move is a website designed to help parents and children during times of transition by providing excellent resources that help parents deal with the stress of  military life. You can find information on many topics from talking to your children to navigating a new neighborhood and school. If you are in the process of a PCS, take a moment to look at this website. It may help alleviate some unnecessary stress and make your PCS a success, both physically and mentally for the whole family.
