Military Spouse Appreication Day ~ May 6th

6 May

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all the spouses who proudly serve next to their service member. Life in the military is full of unknowns and challenges, but we take this life on and proudly support our spouse and this country. We are there through thick and thin and always ready to handle the unexpected! Most Americans have no clue what our life is like or all we endure, but sometimes I wonder if they would ever truly understand without living a day in our life. Probably not!

Today is a day to look at our sacrifices while also acknowledging our love for this life. We are a special breed and I firmly believe not just anyone can be a military spouse! Be proud of yourself and all you do for your spouse! We all know our spouses would not be where they are if it wasn’t for our support and strength! They may wear the rank, but we have endured the hardships and shared in the hard work to get there.

Military spouses provide endless support, constant encouragement, and selfless sacrifices! We are an instrumental element to the success of our military!

THANK YOU all for your service to our great nation!

Silent Patriot

A woman for all season, a woman for today
She stands to meet all the challenges
And grows along the way

Her life is not an easy one
With many loads to bear
But she proudly serves her husband
And the uniform he wears

Although she didn’t take the oath
To preserve democracy
She’s there each day on the home front
To keep our country free

She’s foreign-born or a country girl
Diversity you will find
But to be an army wife,
It takes a special kind

She’s one who keeps on going
Through adversity and pain
She’s the steady strong foundation
When nothing stays the same

She’s the one who sheds a tear
As Old Glory passes by
But couldn’t give an answer
If you were to ask her why?

Throughout the years she marches on
Through tears and joy and strife
She’s America’s unsung hero ~
She’s a military wife.

The Silent Ranks

I wear no uniforms,
No blues or army greens.
But I am in the military
In the ranks rarely seen.
I have no rank upon my shoulders.
Salutes I do not give.
But the military world
Is the place where I live.

I am not in the chain of command,
Orders I do not get.
But my husband is the one who does,
this I cannot forget.
I am not the ones who fires the weapon,
who puts my life on the line.
But my job is just as tough.
I am the one that is left behind.

My husband is a patriot,
A brave, a prideful man
And the call to serve his country,
Not all understand.
Behind the lines I see the things needed
to keep this country free.
My husband makes the sacrifice,
but so do our kids and me.

I love the man I married,
Soldiering is his life.
But I stand among the silent ranks
know as the Military Wife.

The Military Wife

 The good Lord was creating
A model for military wives
and was into his sixth day of overtime
when an angel appeared.
She said, “Lord, you seem to be having
a lot of trouble with this one
What’s wrong with the standard model?”
The Lord replied,
“Have you seen the specs of this order?
She has to be completely independent,
possess the qualities of both mother and father
be a perfect hostess for four to forty
with a hours notice, run on black coffee
handle every imaginable without a manual
be able to carry on cheerfully,
even if she is pregnant and has the flu,
and she must have six pair of hands.”
The angel shook her head
“Six pair of hands? No way!”
The Lord continued, “Don’t worry,
we will make other military wives to help her
And we will give her an unusually strong heart
so it can swell with pride
in husbands achievements,
sustain the pain of separation
beat soundly when it is overworked and tired
and be large enough to say
“I understand” when she doesn’t
and “I love you” regardless
“Lord”, said the angel, touching his arm gently,
“Go to bed and get some rest,
You can finish this tomorrow”
“I can’t stop now,” Said the Lord
I’m so close to creating something unique
Already this model heals herself when she is sick
can put up six unexpected guest for the weekend
wave good-bye to her husband from a pier
a runway or depot and understand
why it’s important the he leave
The angel circled the model of the military wife
looked at it closely and sighed
“It looks fine, but it’s too soft”
“She may look soft”, replied the Lord
“but she has the strength of a lion
you would not believe what she can endure”
Finally, the angel bent over and ran her fingers
across the cheek of the Lord’s creation
“There’s a leak,” she announced
“Something is wrong with the construction
I’m not surprised that it has cracked.
“You are trying to put too much into this model”
The Lord appeared offended
at the angel’s lack of confidence
“What you see is not a leak,” he said,
“It’s a tear”
A tear” What is it here for?” asked the angel
The Lord replied, “It’s for joy, sadness, pain
disappointment, loneliness, pride and dedication
to all the values that she
and her husband hold dear.”

~Facebook Comment~ I certainly appreciated the military wives, and all they did for us when we were deployed. Behind every good Soldier/Sailor/Airman/Marine; is their spouse (who really makes things happen and holds things together). We couldn’t do what we do without that support!
